AIFF - Anchorage International Film Festival

I'm all fired up for this years festival. Hell, bring on the girls from Iceland (oops I'm getting carried away - that's a different website) .
AIFF kicks off this Friday with a screening at 1900h (7 pm) of Camille at The Bear Tooth followed up with a gala party at the Alaska Aviation Heritage Museum at 2100h (9 pm until ??).
Check out the AIFF website. China Town is the lead "old time feature" - Hey Faye Dunaway is hot. But "daddy" is John Huston, nuff said. But don't let the old stuff distract you from the "new stuff." Film makers from around the world are participating. If you miss the Festival this year you'll regret it for the rest of you life.

THE SNOW IS DEEP ON THE GROUND
The snow is deep on the ground.
Always the light falls
Softly down on the hair of my beloved.
This is a good world...
And war shall fail.
God shall not forget us.
Who made the snow waits where love is.
The sky moves in its whiteness
Like the withered hand of an old king.
God shall not forget us.
Who made the sky knows of our love.
The snow is beautiful on the ground.
And always the lights of heaven glow
Softly down on the hair of my beloved.

A favorite poem
Only Cherries?
They didn't want me around
Said I couldn't have no cherries
Or watch them pick cherries
Or even stand near the table
Where one of those Kultur-Kookie-Klucks
With the big fat legged-smile
Was fixing to pop a nice red cherry
In on top of his gold spoon
You know I don't like those people
Who act as if a cherry
Was something they personally thought up
